The mission of the Mid-Columbia Fisheries Enhancement Group is to restore self-sustaining salmon and steelhead populations through habitat preservation and restoration projects, which assist landowners and promote community partnerships throughout our region. We focus on priority projects that restore the processes that create habitat for salmon and steelhead. Restoration projects include removing passage barriers, replanting stream banks with native trees, reconnecting floodplains & side channels, building and maintaining fences to keep livestock out of salmon streams, restoring hydrologic function, and promoting salmon-friendly river recreation.

By being willing to adapt restoration plans to meet the community needs, Mid-Columbia Fisheries was able to install a native riparian buffer along the Yakima River within our neighborhood. We were able to work together to maintain river access (and views) while enhancing fish habitat. The restoration work is well accepted within our riverside community and we appreciate Mid-Columbia Fisheries working hard to meet community needs. Dianne D., riverside landowner.
